                                   Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab, Lokesh Rahul's century goes into vain. Mumbai Indians officiating captain Kieran Pollard in the Indian Premier League by defeating Kings XI Punjab by three wickets in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday, winning the hat-trick of the match.

                                           In the thrilling encounter, Mumbai Indians beat the Kings XI Punjab by 3 wickets on Wednesday, winning the hat-trick in the 12th session of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Punjab, batting first, scored a fine 197 runs for 4 wickets in the 20 overs preserved by the centurion of KL Rahul (100 not out). In response, Mumbai Indians won the match by 3 runs in the last ball with two runs. Captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma to Mumbai Ciaran Pollard played bang innings of 83 runs with 10 sixes and three fours in just 31 balls. Pollard was adjudged Man of the Match for this spectacular innings. With this win, Mumbai Indians have reached number three in the points table. 

Bad start of Mumbai

                                      In the reply of 198 runs, Mumbai Indians started batting in a good start. Debut Star Siddhesh Lad started his career by hitting Ankit Rajput with a six, but he could not convert this opportunity into a big inning. Lad clean bowled by Mohammed Shami on a fantastic ball. He scored 15 runs in 13 balls with the help of one four and six. New batsman Suryakumar Yadav also started well with Ankit Rajput in three overs in an over, but he made 21 runs. He was targeted by Sam Karan.

                                          Pollard then took the morcha and returned to the Mumbai Indians match by hitting 14 and 17 runs in Sam Karan's two overs, respectively. In the last over, Mumbai needed 15 runs in 6 balls to win. Ankit Rajput came for bowling Pollard hit a six on the deep midwicket on the first ball (which was no ball). Joseph remained unbeaten after making 15 runs in 13 balls. Shami got 3 wickets for Punjab, while Ankit Rajput, R. Ashwin and Sam Karan got one wicket each.

Kings XI Punjab innings thrill


Earlier, Kings XI Punjab made 197 for four against the Mumbai Indians in the first match by opener Lokesh Rahul's century and his century with Chris Gayle. Rahul also played an unbeaten 100 not out in 64 balls with six sixes and six fours, besides Gayle (63) with a 116-run partnership for the first wicket. Gayle hit seven sixes and three fours in 36 balls in a hurricane innings.

Gayle, however, gave the catch in the same over. He hit seven sixes and three fours in his 36-ball knock. Mumbai's bowlers then tried to get the team back.
